Q:

Hi I am familiar with Biofeedback - is this what this involves, or is it a written diagnostic test? My husband is a therapist, so I am very familiar with this issue & have been looking for an assessment for myself as I know I am a bit ADD & having memory issues ( I am 60 - but very young - LOL ) Thanks

From Brain Fitness: "This is neurofeedback--brainwave biofeedback. There is no written test, the brain map is a matter of assessing five sites on the head with sensors (Cz, O1, Fp7/Fp8 in tandem, and Fz). We will have you perform some simple tasks while sitting down. We then omit artifact and "noise" from your raw EEG and go over the results with you. In the end, you receive a print out of your brainmap, in excel spreadsheet format."

Q:

What does the brain mapping do for me and my future? If I have an area or areas that need work outs, how would that help?

Heidi K.  asked on  Mar 18, 2013

A:

From Brain Fitness: "The brainmap would help us understand the electroencephalographic basis of some of your conditions, as well as what those conditions are (i.e. ADD-type symptoms, anxiety, depression). This assessment is the first step if you choose to pursue neurotherapy, either with us or another provider."

Q:

Can this help to to diagnosis reasons re: memory loss in my 86 1/2 yr mother?

A:

I'm sorry for the delay in answering your question! From Brain Fitness: "No, we may be able to detect the brainwave signature that validates the memory loss (such as slowing in the frontal areas), but we cannot tell you why memory loss is occurring. An in-take process, with your and her subjective testimonies, may help us narrow down the reasons why memory loss is occurring, however."
