A Chat with Sarasota Kung Fu and Tai Chi
What services does your business offer and what makes your business stand out from the competition?
We have more than five separate types of classes. Students may attend some or all of them. From traditional Kung Fu, Tai Chi, and yoga to martial fitness and a tumbling and tricking class.
What’s one tip for first-time students that will make them feel like veterans?
At our school, there is no ego. All of our students, from white to black belt, have the same goal: to help each other grow as martial artists and individuals. At Shaolin-Do, you never compare yourself to others, only to who you were yesterday!
What was the inspiration to start or run this business?
I used to work the 65-hour-per-week job and hated it. It was time to open my own business where I could work my own hours and make a difference in people’s lives.
What do you love most about your job?
I love the fact that every day I can make a difference in people’s lives. The principles we instill are carried into the community by our students. Owning my own business allows me the freedom to do what I love, teach. The old saying goes, “Do what you love and you will never work a day in your life.”
