The Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra presents a variety of symphonic delights to foster appreciation for classical music and enrich the the community with artistic experiences. The symphony’s Chamber Series negotiates its notes at the historic Third Avenue United Church, a venue that accentuates the small chamber orchestra's rich, resonant sounds. Bach and Beyond features guest musician Guy Few on trumpet, while Paris 1920 is an orchestral homage to the electric city of lights. Buyers can also opt to treat their ears at the Masters Series, held at TCU Place in the Sid Buckwold Theatre and featuring a wide variety of classics by history's great composers. Pianist Martin Leung will tickle the ivories during the Russian Romance concert, while George Gao will stroke the strings of the erhu (Chinese violin) during the Heroes concert. The symphony is a welcome change of pace from usual evening rituals, such as backgammon or being serenaded by nieces and nephews doing the rodent-bones lawn-fire dance.
While the Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra has yet to receive many online reviews, more than 700 Facebookers are fans.
