The conductor is delightful - what a breath of fresh air. It is so nice to have the SSO as something approachable for all rather than just for a stuffy few. I love classical music and I don't love to put on airs in order to come and enjoy it, so thank you :)

What You'll Get

Seeing live music can be a transcendent mind-body experience, akin to getting a tattoo underwater, or making out during an eclipse. Transcend boredom with today's Groupon to the Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra. Choose from the following four options:

  • For $12, you get one adult ticket in the red zone to a Chamber Series production of Bach and Beyond, January 29, 7:30 p.m. OR Paris 1920, April 30, 7:30 p.m. (a $25 value)

  • For $22, you get one adult ticket in the section B second balcony, main floor rows G through X to a Masters Series production of Russian Romance, January 15 7:30 p.m. OR Heroes, February 26, 7:30 p.m. (a $45 value)

The Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra presents a variety of symphonic delights to foster appreciation for classical music and enrich the the community with artistic experiences. The symphony’s Chamber Series negotiates its notes at the historic Third Avenue United Church, a venue that accentuates the small chamber orchestra's rich, resonant sounds. Bach and Beyond features guest musician Guy Few on trumpet, while Paris 1920 is an orchestral homage to the electric city of lights. Buyers can also opt to treat their ears at the Masters Series, held at TCU Place in the Sid Buckwold Theatre and featuring a wide variety of classics by history's great composers. Pianist Martin Leung will tickle the ivories during the Russian Romance concert, while George Gao will stroke the strings of the erhu (Chinese violin) during the Heroes concert. The symphony is a welcome change of pace from usual evening rituals, such as backgammon or being serenaded by nieces and nephews doing the rodent-bones lawn-fire dance.
