About SAT Chess
Given the choice, most kids would pick video games over studying in a heartbeat. But at SAT Chess seminars, they can have both. Taught by chess and test-taking aficionado David Gordon, each class meets at Dave & Busters. In between lessons, David lets his 8th- through 11th-grade pupils play unlimited rounds of non-ticket-winning arcade games. Once breaks are over, the class returns to the main task at hand: learning how the strategies of chess relate to the strategies of taking the SAT. After explaining the game's rules, David integrates SAT training into each round, challenging students to make moves in a minute or less and analyze finished games like practice tests.
