Hello, I ordered 2 Holiday Christmas dinners from Save on Meats for my family of young hockey players. It was the best dinner I have ever eaten. I was very impressed with the portions of food and the customer service from Colin was unbeleivable. I will order from them every year now!! Thank you SO much for making our dinner easy and delicious!!!

The carved turkey was beautifully presented. The food was super tasty. Staff even insisted on helping me carried the food to my car. Such fabulous service so what more can I ask for? I highly recommend Save On Meats & look forward to using in them in 2017.

$220 for a Gastown Harvest Turkey Dinner with Cooking Demo for Two ($440 Value)

During the cooking demo, local chef Elliott Hashimo whips up a traditional turkey dinner, complete with all the fixings and sides, before up to 20 students’ eyes. As he prepares the feast, he shares time-saving tips and techniques on perfectly roasting a turkey. He then demonstrates how to complement the bird with buttermilk mashed potatoes, orange glazed carrots, cranberry sauce, stuffing, and bacon brussels sprouts.

After the spread is complete, it won’t go to waste—students sit down and dine on the meal as the chef circulates the room to answer any remaining questions. Students receive a booklet detailing the recipes and tips to make the dinner at home in time for the holidays. The class is held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Sundays starting November 11.

About Save On Meats

Touting accolades from Vancouver Magazine and the Vancouver Courier, Save On Meats sates appetites with a butcher shop and grocery, all-day diner, and traditional sandwich counter. A weathered fluorescent sign, painted blue and adorned with the shop's signature flying pig, welcomes patrons as they step into an eatery infused with a retro '50s atmosphere but free from con artists claiming to be Lucille Ball’s dentist. Chefs pile plates with hearty diner fare ranging from all-day breakfast platters and simple sandwiches to burgers and chicken and waffles. Kitchen scholars helm cooking classes focused on grassroots food preparation and tactical food-fight strategies in butchering and canning. Colourful apparel and wares such as T-shirts and coffee mugs let visitors display their loyalty.

Worth mentioning is, that Save On Meats introduced inclusive hiring practice where they train, support and employ people with barriers to employment (mental health, disability, criminal record, etc). They also provide ~1,000 meals per day through the community partners servicing street entrenched youth, women fleeing violence and people on the edge of homelessness.
