Q:

We have 1950's movies from 8 mm transferred to VHS tapes. They are very grainy / dark . Can these be cleaned up and transferred to CD?

george s.  asked on  Jun 23, 2013

A:

Hey George. Thank you for reaching out to us. We would recommend doing the transfer directly from those reels of film. It's always better to create the digital files from the original material rather than a copy. If the original film reels are no longer available, we can definitely attempt transfer from the VHS tape copies. We will attempt to correct the image upon transfer, however we do not do any video editing. If the original transfer came out dark/grainy, there is a chance that the digital copy will look similar. Please feel free to contact our support staff at 888-333-2808 or email support@scandigital.com if you have questions. Thank You!

Q:

How many slides can be done for the $250 option? How much for each slide after the $250 option? Dad is 84 and would iike to make this a Christmas gift of his life?

Alex V.  asked on  Jun 21, 2013

A:

Hey Alex. Thank you for reaching out to us. The number of slides covered will depend on the slide format. Most people have 35mm slides and they are priced at $0.68/slide at 2000dpi and $0.88/slide at 4000dpi. 367 35mm slides will be completely covered by a $250 Groupon at 2000dpi and 284 will be covered at 4000dpi. Please do not worry about sorting through all of your slides and choosing the best ones. You are able to send everything you have to us and the slides not covered by the Groupon can easily be applied to a credit card. Please feel free to contact our support staff at 888-333-2808 or email support@scandigital.com if you have questions. Thank You!

My parents have old 3D slides from the mid-60s. Are you able to convert these with this Groupon? Thanks.

Thanks for your interest. You can see their full list of services here.

A:

Hey Thomas. We can definitely assist in digitizing your old 3D slides. We normally scan only one of the two images; you are able to indicate which you prefer or we can scan both. 3D slides are priced at $1.58 per scan, so $3.16 if you want the entire slide scanned. Your Groupon voucher can be applied to any digitization service that we provide so feel free to send those slides over to us! Please do not hesitate to contact us at 888-333-2808 or email support@scandigital.com if you have questions. Thank You!

Q:

How much do you charge for a video tape that is over 2 hours long? Do you charge by the minute then?

Laura  asked on  Jun 18, 2013

A:

Hi Laura, Thank you for your interest in our video transfer services. We charge $19.95 for tapes that are 2 hours or less in length. If your tape is longer than 2 hours, it will require multiple discs and be charged as multiple tape transfers. For example, if your tape is 3 hours in length, the footage will be transferred to 2 DVDs and be charged as 2 tape transfers. Each DVD can hold 2 hours of footage. I hope this helped to clarify, but if you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to contact us directly by email (support@scandigital.com) or by phone (888.333.2808).

Lynne S.  asked on  Jun 18, 2013

A:

Hi Lynne, Thank you for your interest in our video transfer services We charge $19.95 to transfer a video of 2 hours or less to DVD. Q:

I have a bunch of projection film that I would like to have transferred. We have about 20 packs of 3" rolls and maybe 3 of the 5" rolls. Can you give me an estimate of about how much that would be. I'm assuming that in the end they would add in the discount from Groupon.

John E.  asked on  Jun 18, 2013

A:

Hi John, Thank you for your interest in our film transfer services. We transfer 8mm, super 8 and 16mm film to DVD as well as video files to use on your computer. 3" reels typically hold about 50 feet of film, and 5" reels hold about 200 feet of film. Based on your counts, it sounds like you have about 1,600 feet of film to transfer. To transfer your film to DVD, it will cost $0.28/foot, or $448. If you're interested in using your footage on your computer for possible editing, or just to have as additional backup, it will cost an extra $0.10/foot, for a total of $608. You may use 3 $100 Groupon vouchers towards this total, bringing your cost down considerably. If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to contact us directly by email (support@scandigital.com) or by phone (888.333.2808).

Q:

Just making sure that mini -VHS cassettes are included in this deal. It says 5 videocassettes, how many mini cassettes. Thanks a zillion!

Janet C.  asked on  Jun 17, 2013

A:

Hey Janet. We can definitely assist with digitizing your VHS-C tapes to DVD. The transfer process and cost is the same, 19.95 per tape (of 2 hours or less). The Groupon voucher will give you $100 off our digitization service so please do not feel that you are limited to only your 5 favorite tapes. We will apply the full redemption value against the total you owe and the rest can simply be charged to a credit card. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at 888-333-2808 or email us at support@scandigital.com. Thank You!
