Questions and Answers 10 questions

Q:

If your $100 option scans approx. 200 photos, does the $250 option scan approx. 500 photos? Thanks!

Debra W.  asked on  Jun 20, 2013

A:

Hey Debra. Thank you for reaching out to us. You are correct! Groupon vouchers for ScanDigital are much like discount coupons. They will give you either $100 or $250 off the total cost of the service provided. Photos are digitized at $0.48/photo at 300dpi. 208 photos would normally cost 99.84 to digitize and would be completely covered by a $100 Groupon voucher. Any cost above what the Groupon will cover can easily be applied to a credit card. Please feel free to contact us at 888-333-2808 or email support@scandigital.com if you have questions. Thank You!

Q:

I have 8mm reels that are fragile and were tape edited with lots of splices. What do you do if they separate or get stuck in the projector ?

Connie M.  asked on  Jun 20, 2013

A:

Hey Connie. Thank you for reaching out to us. Our film technicians are able to resplice the film if it happens to come apart. A good test for your old film would be to take a small section towards the end of one of your reels and perform a quick bend test. If the film flexes and bends then we should have no problem transferring it. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at 888-333-2808 or email support@scandigital.com. Thank You!

Q:

When I clicked on your pricing guideline, I didn't see anything regarding 8mm reels and aside from VHS tapes, that's what we would be mailing to you. How much do you charge for 8mm reels and could they be group-priced to make digitization even more reasonable? Also, generally how long before the customer receives their product back? Thanks!

Laraine Z.  asked on  Jun 18, 2013

A:

Hi Laraine, Yes, we are able to transfer 8mm films to digital format. We charge $0.28 per foot to transfer 8mm film to DVD, and we also have an expert option to have your footage provided as a high quality .avi video file on hard drive for just $0.10 more per foot. Our standard turnaround time is usually 2-3 weeks from the day an order is inventoried to the day it is completed and shipped. I'm not sure what you mean by group-priced but please contact us directly by email (support@scandigital.com) or by phone (888.333.2808) and we can discuss the specifics of your project.

Q:

The Groupon description said, "Limit 3" plus 3 gifts, but the order page would only let me order 1. How can I order more for me and my family?

Kathy C.  asked on  Jun 18, 2013

A:

Hi Kathy, You may purchase up to $300 worth in Groupon vouchers (3 $100 groupons). Are you trying to purchase 3 of the $250 option? If you are having difficulty making your purchase on Groupon, I believe a Groupon rep will be able to help you here.

Q:

How many tapes for can we get put on DVD for the 75.00 offer?

Doug Y.  asked on  Jun 18, 2013

A:

Hi Doug, Thank you for your interest in our services. We charge $19.95 to transfer a video tape of 2 hours or less to DVD. With our $75 option, you will have $250 available to spend for any of our services, which equates to 12 video tapes. You will have a little over $10 available on your voucher to use towards additional services if you'd like. If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to contact us directly by email (support@scandigital.com) or by phone (888.333.2808).

Q:

I have lots of vhs tapes of my children when they were little. I have not idea if these are full tapes or partial. If I submit them in a specific order, do you just record what might be on each tape and add to the dvd? I don't want the "blank" part on the dvd. Make sense? I also have tapes of them riding their horses. I know these are not complete, so same question applies. Then we can go back thru the dvd and see what is on each one and label it accordingly? Thanks!

Lynda S.  asked on  Jun 17, 2013

A:

Hey Lynda. I think our "expert" transfer service may be the best option for you here. We create you uncompressed AVI files that can be used in any video editing software on your computer. On our end, we do not do any video editing, so removal of unwanted parts of film will need to be done after we send the order back to you. Our transfer process is 1 to 1, so each tape will receive its own DVD and AVI file; you will not need to worry about the order of the tapes. For more information on our expert transfer service, please do not hesitate to contact us at 888-333-2808 or email us at support@scandigital.com. Thank You!

Q:

I have 35 8 x 10 wedding photos from 1968. How could I convert these, using the 3 x 5 size you quote on the offer? Thanks, Margaret

Margaret B.  asked on  Jun 17, 2013

A:

Hi Margaret, We charge the same price for any photo that is 8x10 or smaller. Our price for photo scanning is $0.48, regardless of whether your photos are 3x5, 4x6 or 8x10. If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to contact us directly by email (support@scandigital.com) or by phone (888.333.2808).

Q:

Will I have any cotrol of how to put the videos together? I have lots of little video fragments that need organizing.

Georgette P.  asked on  Jun 17, 2013

A:

Hi Georgette, Thank you for your interest in our video transfer services. If you plan to edit your digitized footage and remove, or re-arrange different fragments, I'd recommend our expert transfer service. For only $10 more per tape, we will provide you with high quality .AVI video files, in addition to your footage on DVD. You may use these video files on your computer with your preferred editing software to edit, manipulate, and re-arrange your footage. If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to contact us directly by email (support@scandigital.com) or by phone (888.333.2808).
