Q:

Hello, For Christmas I want to transfer some of my home videos, taken from a camcorder, to DVD. The little tapes that the film is on are about 2"X3"...(Just a guess) Are these types of tapes a viable option for what your services offer? -Chelsea

Chelsea M.  asked on  Oct 15, 2013

A:

Hey Chelsea. Thank you for reaching out to us! We are definitely able to digitize your camcorder tapes. We are able to process most common formats including Hi8, VHS-C and Mini DV. You are definitely able to apply your Groupon voucher towards digitizing these tapes and we would love to assist you with getting an order placed. Please call us at 888-333-2808 when you have a moment and we can go through the order process with you. Thank You!

Q:

Our family has various sized photos (about 150) taken with old Brownie cameras , modern cameras and one 16 X 20 portrait from our father's estate. Which of your offers would be the best to buy?

Glynda Y.  asked on  Jun 26, 2013

A:

Hey Glynda. Each photo 8x10 or smaller will cost $0.48 a piece to digitize at 300dpi and $0.68 a piece at 600dpi. The large 16x20 portrait will require the use of our large format scanner and will need to be scanned in sections and the sections will then need to be reattached to form a whole picture. Each scan costs $1.88 at 300dpi or $2.88 at 600dpi and each attachment costs $10. To recommend an offer, we would need to know a few details about the sizes of the photographs and what your plans are once you have the digitized files. Please contact our support staff at 888-333-2808 and we will be happy to assist! Thank You!

Q:

I wanted a wedding DVD to play with old pictures and new ones from an iPod as well as a camera. Would this be possible with the 1st option? Thanks! Sarah

Sarah R.  asked on  Jun 26, 2013

A:

Hey Sarah. Thank you for contacting us. Is your wedding DVD an actual filmed event, a slide show or a data disc with pictures? We are able to take already digitized pictures and combine them with pictures that we are currently digitizing for you and create a playable slide show disc which will play on any DVD player. Please visit our slide show page http://www.scandigital.com/digital-slideshow.php for more information. At the moment we do not offer a service that combines video files with pictures into playable DVD discs and I apologize if that creates an inconvenience for you. If you are interested in creating a slide show from your wedding photos, you will be able to apply a Groupon voucher towards the purchase price. Please feel free to contact us at 888-333-2808 or email support@scandigital.com if you have questions. Thank You!

Q:

I have 11 old camcorder tapes but I don't want everything that is on them. They were my mothers and she would just add on until they were full, so is there a way to do that with you? And what would I be looking at for price if you can?

Nancy E.  asked on  Jun 25, 2013

A:

Hey Nancy. Thank you for contacting us! It sounds like you could make good use of our "expert" transfer service. We on our end do not edit out sections of footage, however our expert transfer option creates editable AVI files which can be used with any video editing software you have at home to create customized versions of your home videos. The cost would be 29.95 per tape (of 2 hours or less; tapes longer than 2 hours cost 29.95 per two hour section of tape) and your Groupon voucher can be applied towards the total for transfer. The AVI files we create are uncompressed and are very large; approximately 30GB per 2 hours of tape, and therefore require storage on an external hard drive. We do offer them for purchase (500GB starting at $119.95) or you can supply one of your own drives; simply send it along with your material. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to us at 888-333-2808 or email support@scandigital.com. Thank You!

Q:

I have approximately 1000 slides that would like to have transferred to disc. Using your present GROUPN deal, what what would this cost me? Thanks, Cam McKinley anneandcammck@gmail.com

Anne M.  asked on  Jun 24, 2013

A:

Hi Anne, Thank you for your interest in our services. We scan 35mm slides at 2000 dpi resolution for $0.68 each, or at 4000 dpi resolution for $0.88 each. If you have 1000 slides, we offer a bulk pricing discounted rate of $0.58 instead of $0.68, but you will be required to pay upfront. This means it will cost you $580 upfront to pay for 1,000 35mm slide scans. You may use a $100 Groupon to pay for part of this, leaving $480 to be billed to your credit card. If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to contact us directly by email (support@scandigital.com) or by phone (888-333-2808).

Q:

We have the old reel tapes from a projector from the 60's and 70's. Can you convert them onto a DVD? How many big reels can you do? They are about 6 inches. Bigger than the 3 inch ones. If they break (we sometimes had to splice them when the tape broke) do you splice them back together and do we get the tapes back? Thanks

Charles J.  asked on  Jun 24, 2013

A:

Hi Charles, Thank you for your interest in our services. Yes, we are able to transfer reel to reel film in formats of 8mm, super 8 and 16mm. 6 inch reels typically hold 300 feet of film and we can fit about 5 of them on one DVD. If you have more than that, the footage would simply be transferred to multiple disks. We charge $0.28 to have your footage transferred to DVD, or for just $0.10 more per foot, we can also transfer your film to high quality .avi video files for use on your computer. The higher end, Expert Transfer option, is great for customers who plan to do editing, or simply want a higher quality backup of their digitized footage. If your film breaks and requires splicing, we will have no problem with that. If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to contact us directly by email (support@scandigital.com) or by phone (888-333-2808).

Q:

I have several photos that I need to save to my computer, and I would like to have them put onto a disk with music in the background, does this qualify for the online deal, if I had them all saved onto a disk to give you to? Thank you, Sharon Miller silverbearkees@lbtdsl.com

Sharon M.  asked on  Jun 24, 2013

A:

Hi Sharon, Thank you for your interest in our services. Yes, you can use your Groupon to pay for all of that. We scan photos of 8x10 or smaller at 300 dpi for $0.48 each or at 600 dpi for $0.68 each. With the cost of scanning, you will receive your digital images on disk to use in your computer. However, if you want it to play with music on a DVD player, you will also need to order a slideshow. Our Blockbuster slideshow costs $120 and includes music, chapter breaks, captions and custom transitions. If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to contact us directly by email (support@scandigital.com) or by phone (888-333-2808).

Q:

Is there any fees associated with sending you the media content? If I buy the $75 offer and I don't use all of it is there any refund or would it be better for me to purchase 2, $29 offers? I have 7 VHS and about 100 photos. Thx

Mark H.  asked on  Jun 24, 2013

A:

Hi Mark, Thank you for your interest in our services. Aside from the cost of the digitization work, the only other fee you should be concerned with is shipping. We have UPS options on our website, including a $10 flat rate UPS Ground option which most of our customers select. You will be responsible for shipping your order to us, as well as paying for shipping back to you. Shipping options on our website can be paid for using your Groupon voucher credit. The Groupon voucher does not retain any cash value, but if you don't use the entire amount with your order, the remaining balance will stay on your code to use with a future order. If all of your tapes are 2 hours or less, it will cost you $139.65 for the tape transfers. If you are scanning your photos at our standard resolution, and they are all 8x10 or smaller, it will cost $48 for the scanning. That is a total of $187.65 of work. If you have other materials to digitize as well, you may want to consider sending them at the same time to save on shipping costs. If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to contact us directly by email (support@scandigital.com) or by phone (888-333-2808).
