Q:

What would be the resolution of scanned photos? Do you scan as grayscale or black/white?

Margaret B.  asked on  Apr 25, 2013

A:

Hi Margaret. Thank you for contacting us. We are able to scan photos at two different resolutions depending on your needs. Most ask for their photos to be scanned at 300dpi. This resolution is great for archiving your images and preserving them in a form that will never degrade or get ruined by time or the elements. It is also great for sharing online with friends and family. Scans done at 600dpi are best for those looking to print large versions (8x10 or larger) of their photos or for those looking to do editing. Unfortunately we do not scan in grayscale or black&white. If the photo is already in one of those formats then the image we create will be in the same format. If you have questions about pricing or need assistance getting your order placed please do not hesitate to contact us at 888-333-2808 or by email at support@scandigital.com. Thank You! - Jason

Q:

Can you also convert from the small tapes that fit in a video camera? They will fit in a VHS size converter to watch on a VHS. I'm not sure what they are called.

Carolyn G.  asked on  Apr 24, 2013

A:

Hey Carolyn. Those small tapes you are talking about are VHS-C format tapes and we are definitely able to assist you with digitizing them and transferring them to DVD. If you have questions about pricing or need assistance getting your order placed, please feel free to contact us at 888-333-2808 or by email at support@scandigital.com. Thank You! - Jason

Q:

I have 5 VHS tapes I want to convert. Looks like the $29 option for $100 is the best option for me but I'm confused because the company website says you do it based on feet so does that mean I may be charged more or less? And how does the shipping work? Is there a fixed rate to send it to/from the company?

Emily J.  asked on  Apr 24, 2013

A:

Hi Emily. Thank you for contacting us. The charge per foot you are seeing is for the transfer of reel to reel film film, not VHS tapes. VHS tapes are converted to DVD at a rate of 19.95 per tape up to two hours. If you have five VHS tapes then the $29 option will work well for you as it will cover the transfer. Shipping costs are extra and can be handled in a couple of ways. You may purchase a shipping label from UPS directly through our online order form. Rates start at $10 and will vary based on the speed and origin of the shipment. Shipping of your finished product is done through UPS Ground at a rate of $10 within the continental United States. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at 888-333-2808 or by email at support@scandigital.com. Thank You! - Jason

mary f.  asked on  Apr 23, 2013

A:

You can view information regarding pricing here.

You will be able to use both Groupons, however you will not be able to use them on the same order.

Allison J.  from  Self  replied on  Apr 23, 2013

A:

Hey Mary Thank you for reaching out. It sounds like you have 8mm camcorder tapes, but I will provide you with pricing for film as well just to be sure. For 8mm video tapes, we charge $19.95 per tape to convert it to DVD. The $29 Groupon provides $100 worth of service and will cover 5 tapes of 2 hours or less. The $75 Groupon provides $250 worth of service and will cover 12 tapes. Each DVD will hold 2 hours of footage from a tape, so tapes running longer than 2 hours will incur an extra charge. If you are interested in doing some video editing, we offer an upgraded package for $29.95 per tape. This "expert" transfer package will not only create a DVD from each tape, but will also create a fully editable AVI file for use in your home movie editing software. For digitizing 8mm film reels, the same services are offered. Our "premium" service will convert your film to DVD at a cost of $0.28 per foot. The $29 Groupon will cover 357 feet of film and the $75 Groupon will cover 892 feet. The "expert" transfer package which creates the editable AVI files will cost $0.38 per foot. The $29 Groupon will cover 263 feet of film and the $75 Groupon will cover 657 feet. Unfortunately, as Allison has previously mentioned, the $29 Groupon voucher and the $75 Groupon voucher cannot be used in combination with each other. If you have questions about pricing or the application of your Groupon voucher, please do not hesitate to reach out to us at 888-333-2808 or by email at support@scandigital.com. Thank You! - Jason

Q:

You didn't answer the above question from Mary F. What exactly regarding 8 mm film (reel-to-reel) is being purchased by either of the offers?

Monica C.  asked on  Apr 23, 2013

A:

Hey Monica. For our reel to reel film transfers, we charge $0.28 per foot to digitize your film to DVD. For the $29 Groupon which provides $100 worth of services, you would be able to transfer 357 feet. The $75 Groupon which provides $250 worth of services will cover 892 feet of film. We do offer an upgraded service for those who are looking to covert their film into a high definition, editable format. For $0.38 per foot, we will create you not only a DVD, but a fully editable AVI file. If you have questions about the different options, or need assistance getting your order started, please do not hesitate to contact us at 888-333-2808 or by email at support@scandigital.com.
