Q:

Wendy again...Please help me better understand the hard drive solution. Sorry I am not technically savvy. Would you simply unload all the DHS tapes to file that I would copy over to my harddrive and then edit before I burn a dvd myself? Is there special editing tools that I need to edit a file such as this (take out all the unused tape)? How much would this cost so I know how much to purchase. Some of the dhs tapes have alot on them some have very little. Thank you for your patience.

Wendy F.  asked on  Nov 23, 2012

A:

Hi Wendy - with the hard drive option we would return your original video tapes along with a DVD for each video tape and a hard drive. On that hard drive there would be a series of files - one for each video tape. Then you would take those files and using a program on you computer (most computers have software that comes bundled with them to edit video these days), you would be able to edit the files to include all the clips of one child together. I should have clarified that we do automatically remove unused footage as part of our process, so you wouldn't need to edit that out...but with the hard drive you'd have the ability to manipulate the files in whatever segments you'd like and then create DVDs from the files after you've edited them. I hope this helps clarify things and sorry if i've made this more confusing than it needed to be for you! Thanks for your interest in ScanDigital and please let us know if you have other questions!

Q:

Hello...I have about 25 old dhs video tapes of my kids sports, proms, xmas, etc that I would like converted to DVD. Each DHS tape may not be totally full. I do have the tapes in year order. I am looking to put ALL one child's DHS videos on one DVD, another child on a separate DVD. Would this work?

Wendy F.  asked on  Nov 23, 2012

A:

Wendy - unfortunately the contents of each tape are large enough that they will typically fill one DVD. Our service is set up to be a one-to-one transfer. This means each video cassette gets a DVD. If you'd like to do some editing, you could opt for our hard drive option which will provide a hard drive with all of the digital files for you to edit. Thanks for your interest in ScanDigital and please let us know if you have other questions!

Q:

If I have a dvd with pictures/back ground music can you duplicate them. also I have some single pictures that I want converted to a dvd. what would be the cost of this? mkenyon

Margie K.  asked on  Nov 23, 2012

A:

Margie - We do not provide DVD duplication services, but we can convert your photos to DVD. The cost at 300 dpi is $0.48 per image and the $100 voucher covers about 200 photos. Thanks for your interest in ScanDigital and please let us know if you have other questions!
