Q:

Hello - is it possible to have music added to the DVDs that are created from old 8mm films? Also, approximately how long does it take to have the DVD's made? Is it a matter of weeks or months? Thanks.

Joanne C.  asked on  Mar 19, 2013

A:

Hi Joanne. I apologize, however we do not provide video editing services. At the current time we provide digitization of your film and video media only. There is an option you are able to explore; if you use our "expert" transfer service, we will provide you with an editable AVI version of your video. This will enable you to create a more personalized video through any video editing or movie creation software you have at home. Our turn around time for film is currently around 4 weeks. We have just completed our move to Torrance, California, and our film transfer department is back up and running. If you are concerned about time, please let us know when placing your order and we will do our best to expedite the process for you. Thank you for reaching out to us. If you have further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at 888.333.2808, by email at info@scandigital.com or on Live Chat. Take Care!

Q:

1 I have 900 ft of 8 mm film on 3 reels plus 2 150 ft of partly heat damaged 8 mm film on another reel. Which Groupon should I buy and how much will it cost to convert?

Arnold R.  asked on  Mar 18, 2013

A:

Hi Arnold. For the amount of film you have, I would definitely suggest purchasing the $115 for $300 Groupon voucher. It will cover the transfer of 1071 feet of film. We will do our best to transfer the heat damaged film, however if we are unable to transfer it correctly, you will not be charged for that portion of the service. If we are able to transfer all of the film you submit, and it goes over the 1071 feet covered by the Groupon, we can simply charge the remainder to your credit card. Our pricing for transfer is $0.28 per foot for our premium service and $0.38 per foot for our expert service. Please let us know if there is anything else we can assist with. We can be reached at 888.333.2808 or by email at info@scandigital.com. Thank You!

Q:

Does one 120 minute vhs tape count as one video tape. Can you count 2 video tapes as 1 if they together add to 120 minutes. Is the 3 per person, mean 15 videos? Thanks in advance, Linda

Linda R.  asked on  Mar 17, 2013

A:

Hi Linda. Thank you for contacting us! Each 120 minutes worth of VHS tape counts as one tape. If your tape was recorded on extended play (EP), it is possible for a 120 minute tape to contain more than 120 minutes of footage. In that case, each 120 minute block of tape (or fraction thereof) will count as one tape. For instance if you have a tape recorded on EP that is 200 minutes long, it will count as two tapes. Each DVD is finalized when we finish transferring footage from each tape, so we are unable to combine separate tapes onto one DVD. If all tapes are of 120 minutes or less, then yes, $300 worth of Groupon vouchers will equate to fifteen tapes. This does not take into account charges for shipping, ordering of packaging materials or accessories purchased through our site. I hope this helps. If you have questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at 888.333.2808 or by email at info@scandigital.com. Thanks!
