Q:

I have 27-8mm video cassetts that have unedited material. 1-which groupon option should I buy to get the most material converted? 2- can I edit the material after it is converted to dvd?

Jean M.  asked on  Apr 3, 2013

A:

Hi Jean. We are definitely able to assist with the digitization of your old video cassettes. It sounds like you plan to do some video editing/creation after receiving your finished product, and I recommend to you our "expert" transfer service. The cost is 29.95 per 2 hours of tape and it creates for you an AVI file which you can then upload to your favorite video editing software and create your own versions of home movies. With so many of these cassettes, I would recommend purchasing the $115 for $300 Groupon deal. Hi Cheryl. Our facility is in Torrance, California. Even if you are not a resident of California, you are still able to take advantage of Groupon's great deals for our services. The majority of our customers mail or ship their materials to us. We offer shipping through UPS which provides a safe, reliable and most importantly trackable way to get your materials to our facility. Q:

Do you offer scans of 120/220 film in 645 format? If so, at what cost and how do they fit in the offers presented in your ad?

Ted T.  asked on  Mar 31, 2013

A:

Hi Ted. We do offer scanning for most types of "medium format" film. They are priced at $2.48/frame for normal resolution scans (2000dpi) or $4.98/frame for high resolution scans (4000dpi). The Groupon voucher can be used to cover the cost associated with scanning medium format film. Think of the voucher as a $100 or $300 off coupon for services. Groupon vouchers can be used to cover all of our scanning/digitization services. Only the purchase of equipment such as hard drives, flash drives and photo frames are not covered by Groupon vouchers. Please refer to our pricing page http://www.scandigital.com/photography-pricing.php for more information about the types of film and negatives we scan. If you don't see what you are looking for, please do not hesitate to contact us for more information. We can be reached at 888.333.2808 or by email at support@scandigital.com. Thank You! - Jason

Q:

I am converting old reel movies. Is there a cost per DVD as well as per reel? If I combine many small reels on one DVD, can I later use my computer to change the order of the files to create a new DVD?

Ken F.  asked on  Mar 31, 2013

A:

Hi Ken. For our film digitization service, we charge by the foot instead of by the reel. This way you get charged for only what gets transferred instead of paying for the transfer of an entire reel that may or may not be full. If you choose our "premium" transfer service, we charge $0.28/foot and the footage is digitized onto a DVD disc. The file that is generated on the disc is a VOB file and is not readily edited on a computer. We do offer another level of transfer called our "expert" transfer service. The charge is $0.38/foot and creates easily editable AVI files. The files are quite large and require the use or purchase of an external hard drive. These files are easily transferred to a computer for manipulation through movie making/editing software. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have questions. We can be reached at 888.333.2808 or by email at support@scandigital.com. Thank You! - Jason

Q:

i have a few of grandma greats photo albums that have the pictures held in by the old glue on corner holders and found them to be quite tedious to gently pull the photo out of- and lots of them came off due to 100 yrs of glue loss- do you handle those type of albums as well? I dont care or hold Anyone responsible for the corner locators loss or movement btw-

Thomas A.  asked on  Mar 31, 2013

A:

Hi Thomas. Our scanners are trained to handle these albums with the greatest of care. They are priceless family treasures that need to be preserved for future generations. For albums with photos that cannot/should not be removed, we are able to scan the entire page at once. The price is $1.88 per page. This may be a good option to explore since it seems the album is nearing the end of its life, and pulling old photos out may do more harm than good. Please refer to our pricing page for detailed information about scanning service and the costs associated with it. Log on to http://www.scandigital.com/photography-pricing.php. If there is anything else we can assist you with, please do not hesitate to contact us at 888.333.2808 or by email at support@scandigital.com. Thank You! - Jason
