Q:

The VHS of our wedding video has terrible contrast, which cannot be changed with the controls on the TV or VCR. Many people look almost orange (without spray tans).. can this be adjusted or fixed?

Linda P.  asked on  Nov 24, 2012

A:

Linda - we would not be able to fix that, but you could obtain the digital files from us and hire a local editor to repair this for you. Thanks for your interest and please let us know if you have additional questions!

Q:

I have 14 8mm tapes from the 1960's and a VHS tape I'd like to transfer to DVD or hard drive. Will I be best off purchasing the $300 option? Can we reproduce the DVD's? How much for you to make 2? Also, when you say hard drive, do you mean external hard drive or memory stick type. Can you e-mail the file?

michael s.  asked on  Nov 24, 2012

A:

Michael - the $300 option is going to cover 15 tapes, so that is the best option for you. You can copy the DVDs if you would like, or we charge $12.95 per DVD for copies. We refer to hard drives as external hard drives, though in some instances we can fit the files on a USB thumb drive. Unfortunately the files are too large for email. Thanks for your interest and please let us know if you have additional questions!

Q:

Does this offer have the choice for DVD silver screen movie or the editable files when you place order as the first question asked? If I choose the editable option, do you just download them to my MacPro hard drive? I am not sure what the difference means. One seems to just copy the files that I can't add subtitles or dates to and the other would give me the ability to manipulate but I am not sure how difficult that would be.

Jessica L.  asked on  Nov 23, 2012

A:

Jessica - The DVDs are created to be played in a DVD player. With our hard drive option you receive the files on a hard drive in a file format (either MP4 or AVI) that is editable. If you let us know on the order form that you are working on a Mac, we'll provide a hard drive in Mac format so that when you connect the hard drive to your MacPro you do not need to move them to the hard drive there. The file formats we provide on the hard drive for you should be easy to manipulate. Thanks for your interest in ScanDigital and please let us know if you have other questions!

Q:

I have a ton of old family slides, some of which have gotten mildewed over the years. Can you bring these back to life? Thanks much.

sheila m.  asked on  Nov 23, 2012

A:

Sheila - Most likely we can bring them back to life or at least improve them, but it is hard to say without seeing them. We do clean all slides and many that have been mildewed can be recovered. However, that is not the case 100% of the time, so we just would need you to send them in. We certainly realize the value of these images to our customers so we do everything we possibly can to restore them to their original condition. Q:

I have my grandmother's photos. They are very old. Would it be a hard drive I want if I want another relative to put names to the people in these photos?

Carla D.  asked on  Nov 23, 2012

A:

Carla - The easiest way to handle this would be for us to transfer the images to digital format and provide them to you on a hard drive. Your relative could then take the files and modify the file names with the people in them (I believe this is what you're trying to accomplish). Thanks for your interest in ScanDigital and please let us know if you have other questions!

Q:

When the digitized VHS tapes come back to you, what format is it in? I'm wondering if it is just a DVD that you play in your DVD player, or if it is in a format that I can edit, etc in video editing software, or upload to youtube, etc. Thanks!!!

Paula M.  asked on  Nov 22, 2012

A:

Paula - the DVDs are set up to be played in your DVD player. If you would like the editable files, I would recommend you use our hard drive option which will provide the editable files on a hard drive for you. Happy Thanksgiving and please let us know if you have any other questions!

Lisa D.  asked on  Nov 22, 2012

A:

Lisa - yes, the $300 option covers 15 tapes. Happy Thanksgiving and please let us know if you have any other questions!

Q:

Can you convert from floppy drive disks ( small ones)? We had a digital camera that used that to store photos, however, we no longer have the floppy drive on our desktop to transfer to the computer

Teresa C.  asked on  Nov 22, 2012

A:

Teresa, unfortunately at this time we do not accept floppy disks. Sorry we couldn't be helpful with those. Happy Thanksgiving and please let us know if you have any other questions!

Q:

I have negatives of my son's wedding. The professional photographer left the state, but gave us the negatives. They are prof size. Can you digitize them? We've been searching for three years for someone to do it.

SHARON S.  asked on  Nov 22, 2012

A:

Sharon - As long as you own the negatives and have the rights to reproduce them, we can convert them to digital format for you and that process would be covered under this groupon. Many professional photographers used medium format, so please be sure to check our pricing page - http://www.scandigital.com/photography-pricing.php to become familiar with the pricing for these images. Happy Thanksgiving and please let us know if you have any other questions!
