More Questions and Answers

Q:

I'm trying to decide whether to buy this Groupon or to opt for 600 dpi.Are the 600 dpi photos actually sharper looking? Is the JPG compression the same for 300 or 600? Also, if there are 1000 photos on one DVD, am I able to make copies of this on my own computer? Thanks so much for your patience!

Norene M. C.  asked on  Mar 9, 2013

A:

Norene- Yes, the photos will be sharper when we scan your order at the higher resolution 600dpi. Once you have the DVD data disc you are able to make additional copies of the disc we send. We do not copy-protect the disc in any way.

Q:

Could you please explain the negatives/positive of the 300 dpi compared to the 600 dpi?

Norene M. C.  asked on  Mar 9, 2013

A:

Norene - Welcome to ScanMyPhotos.com, we're glad you found us. 300 DPI is good for print reproduction of the same size or for viewing on a computer. 600 DPI is better to "future-proof" your photos. As screen resolutions increase, so will your scanned images to maintain viewing quality. Additionally, scanning at a higher resolution allows for larger, crisper photo reproductions. For example, a 4x6 scanned at 300 DPI can reproduce a 4x6 or a 5x7 print whereas a 600 DPI scan can print up to 16x20. Please visit http://www.scanmyphotos.com/300v600dpi.php for more information.
