What You'll Get
Inflatable tubes and rafts afford a much more comfortable method for river floating than the oft used, Huckleberry Finn–style groupings of oversized pretzel rods. Float more fashionably with today's Groupon to Schuylkill River Outdoors in Monocacy. Choose between the following options:
For $6, you get a 2- to 3-hour ride down the river in a tube (a $15 value).
For $9, you get one spot on a 2- to 3-hour ride down the river in a four-person raft (a $20 value).
Schuylkill River Outdoors outfits aspiring outdoorsmen with tubes and rafts before dispatching them down the stream to bask in scenic views and revel in glimpses of undomesticated critters. A 2- to 3-hour ride affords floaters plenty of time to coast down the cool, calm Schuylkill River, enjoying its sunlit banks and peeking at potential wild turkeys, ducks, and male-pattern-balding eagles. Hungry from all the high-fives and occasional finger paddles in the mostly 2- to 4-foot river, adventurers may stop at one of the islands studded throughout the stream for a relaxing lunch. Rafters and tubers must bring their own snacks and drinks, in addition to sunscreen, bathing suits, and whatever else they may need to enhance their watery experience.
Schuylkill River Outdoors will re-open next season on May 25, 2012.

About Schuylkill River Outdoors
Schuylkill River Outdoors outfits guests with tubes and rafts before sending them off to take tranquil, relaxing jaunts downstream. Customers can choose from three different aquatic sojourns—a brief, one-hour float, a two- to three-hour trek, or a five-hour marathon—to complete at their leisure. During trips, tubers and rafters can take time out to wade in the shallow waters or invent backstories for the wild turkey, ducks, and bald eagles they may encounter along the way. Multiple islands populate the gently flowing waters of the Schuylkill River, providing a convenient spot for explorers to stop to picnic or skip rocks. Schuylkill River Outdoors recommends that customers bring along their own snacks and drinks, sunscreen, bathing suits, and a pair of water-friendly shoes as footwear is mandatory.
