What You'll Get
On the International Space Station, brave astro-pioneers pass the time by making crafts—namely, dreamcatchers to catch the dreams of any nearby aliens dreaming of attacking Earth. Make your crafting dreams come true with today's Groupon: for $15, you get to create and publish a customized book, including author photo (a $33 value), at Scribble Press, with locations in the Upper West Side and Upper East Side.
Founded by two moms, Scribble Press is a fully equipped art studio that enables children, families, and lone adults to write, illustrate, and publish their own books. Wee wordsmiths can choose their art supplies from a monstrous marker wall, then sit down at a project table and begin their vision. Those inhabited by neatly organized and color-coded creative muses can choose to mold their opus from scratch, while Scribble Press's story starters and fill-in-the-blank Cueprints provide inspiration to hesitant hands. Feel free to bring in photos to add a level of gritty realism to stories about unicorn space travel. Following the final stroke of marker, books are printed, bound, and taken home on the same day to allow for timely gift giving, show-and-tells, and international book tours.
Scribble Press has received a lot of press recently. GoodDay All Day! and New York Family featured it. Time Out New York profiled Scribble Press and included it on a list of hot birthday spots. Blogs such as Mommy Poppins and Stroller Traffic profiled it as well:
- What makes Scribble Press so different… is that this is the only one in the city where kids can make a book from start to finish which is then professionally bound and printed on site. – Stephanie, Mommy Poppins
- Scribble Press also offers fantastic art kits to be used in-store or at home, plus classes, workshops, and of course birthday parties. – Stroller Traffic
