What You'll Get
In a proper tasting, wine must be held up to the light to gauge its color, tossed on a cat's back to judge its acidity, and sipped through a crazy straw to annoy the host. Become the toast of any tasting with today's Groupon to Scribner Bend Vineyards. Choose between the following options:
- For $20, you get $40 worth of wine.
- For $49, you get a barrel-room tour and tasting for up to 10 people (up to a $200 value), plus 10 percent off wine purchases.
Scribner Bend Vineyards' distilled grape essences—a product of the Sacramento River delta's fecund soils—have garnered awards from Florida to San Francisco. After you've drunk in views of the estate's pastoral acres, landscaped gardens, and Gothic bouncy castle, Scribner Bend's staff will guide you around the tasting room, a renovated century-old barn where taste buds wade into an ocean of alcoholic alchemy. The crisp snap of the 2009 pinot grigio ($12.95) is accented with luscious green papaya and has been going steady with seafood ever since they exchanged pins behind the bleachers sophomore year. For a deep red bear hug, sip the 2006 merlot ($15.95), and let its overture of black currant, plum, and scent of cherry-vanilla lull you into a cozy mental cocoon. Familiars of Scribner Bend's vinos can skip the tasting entirely and head home with a clutch of syrahs, chardonnays, and viogniers.

About Scribner Bend Vineyards
The Scribner family has been a fixture of the Sacramento River Delta since 1893, when George Washington Scribner settled along the river bend that would eventually bear his name. Five generations since the fertile soil first beckoned the patriarch, the family is still putting the original barn to good use—now as a tasting room where the Scribners' award-winning wines get the attention and ambiance they deserve. The family’s alluring adult beverages reach their palate-pleasing potential thanks to the expertise of 50-year winemaker William Ghiglieri, who helps the Scribners maintain their century-old legacy. Visitors can rent out the vineyard for private events, lending a convivial elegance to such get-togethers as corporate parties, bridal showers, or pet goldfish funerals.
