After strapping on provided diving gear, classmates spend 90 minutes exploring the depths of the Wayne YMCA’s pool. Although the class does not confer a certification, the experienced instructors will help students get their first taste of the sport. Classes are held one Tuesday and Thursday a month from 8:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. View the full schedule.
- $249 for an open-water Scuba-Diving Beginner Course at the Wayne YMCA (a $499 value)

This comprehensive scuba course outfits students with all necessary equipment—including an Open-Water Online E-Training kit, a weight belt, a slate, and a whistle—as well as major equipment rentals such as a regulator and a tank. Over the course of three two-hour classes, pupils get a deep understanding of diving in a safe pool environment and learn how to safely operate their equipment. This package alone does not confer a certification, as students must complete four additional open-water dives, which are not included here. View the full schedule.
