What You'll Get
Although scuba divers thrive underwater, walking down the street with flippers leads to a difficult existence filled with tripping into street vendors' vats of scalding hot dog broth. Discover the diver-friendly aqueous world with today's Groupon: for $20, you get an introductory Discover Scuba Diving lesson at Scuba West (a $49.95 value). The course includes all the necessary equipment (students are only required to bring a bathing suit and towel).
The Discover Scuba Diving experience is a 2.5-hour introduction to scuba that will be taught by an experienced scuba instructor. With class sizes maxing out at eight people, you'll get individual attention as you learn safety tips, diving techniques, and equipment-handling skills. Amenities at Scuba West's 2.5-acre dive facility include modern classrooms, a heated swimming pool, and the Hudson Grotto, Scuba West's very own limestone sink with depths of more than 100 feet.
Whether you're preparing for a tropical vacation or preparing for an existence predicted by Kevin Costner, you can learn scuba skills in a safe environment. Although this is not a certification course, it's a chance for you to get your flippers wet and learn how to protect yourself against attacks from mermen or to pick out your own lobster at restaurants. Call ahead to schedule an appointment.
