What You'll Get
If foam noodles can be found floating on the surface of almost every pool, think how many perfectly salted meatballs must be at the bottom of the ocean. Discover the sea's sunken treats with today's Groupon to Scuba Works in Jupiter. Choose from the following options:
- For $20, you get a snorkeling trip (a $40 value).
- For $179, you get an open-water scuba certification course (a $399 value).
- For $179, you get the advanced open-water scuba certification course (a $399 value; must already hold open-water certification).
Chosen by CityVoters as 2010's Best Dive Center in the Palm Beaches and Treasure Coast, Scuba Works schools gill-less Floridians in the basics of underwater breathing. On guided snorkel tours, groups of no more than 16 snorkelers will embark off the coast of Jupiter to explore the wildlife of a highly inhabited shallow marine environment. Tours last approximately two to three hours and include the use of the boat, masks, fins, and snorkel equipment, allowing swimmers to dominate impertinent minnows in subsurface staring contests without breaking for air.
For those who wish to take underwater exploration to the next league, Scuba Works provides open-water and advanced-certification courses. During open-water courses, groups of around eight aspiring merpeople will endeavor on five pool dives and four open-water dives over the course of three to four days, all led by a squad of trained instructors. Certification fees and classroom instruction are included in open-water classes. Divers who have already achieved basic certification and moray mastery can use this Groupon toward advanced open-water diver certification, which expands on open-water certification by developing new capabilities such as diving in currents, diving from a boat, and refining buoyancy, the single most crucial skill for any career as a life jacket. This two-day course includes a deep-water dive and a navigation dive.
For both open-water and advanced open-water courses, today’s Groupon includes study materials as well as the use of equipment such as tanks, regulators, buoyancy-compensator devices, and wetsuits. Divers must provide their own personal equipment including snorkels, fins, and masks, but equipment packages are available for rent ($25) or purchase ($79+) from Scuba Works.
