What You'll Get
Sailing is one of the most romantic activities, as it often entails colorful sunsets, gentle breezes, and tying significant others to pole masts. Examine sailorly knots with this Groupon.
$99 for a Two-Hour BYOB Tall-Ships Sailing Cruise for Two (a $198 value)
During Sailfest, the billowing white sails of tall ships stand out against the summer sky while commemorating the bicentennial of the War of 1812. To see these tall ships in style, passengers board a 60-foot Tortola motorsailer for an excursion around New London Harbor that gives up-close views of the more than 20 ships that were sent to the harbor to commemorate the 200th anniversary of both the War of 1812 and "The Star-Spangled Banner." Patrons can take advantage of the BYOB policy and swig their own libations while feasting on provided snacks.
Other events, such as the Parade of Sail, opening ceremonies at Fort Trumbull, live music, and War of 1812 reenactments will also be taking place throughout the weekend.
Boat sail at 10 a.m., noon, 2 p.m., 4 p.m., 6 p.m., and 8 p.m. on Saturday, July 7, Sunday, July 8 and a morning sail on July 9. About Seacoast Sailing
Originally built to sail around the world, the New Horizons motorsailer now spends its days providing Maine hospitality to its guests while gliding along the scenic Northeastern coast of the United States. After boarding the sailboat, groups can take in the sweeping views of the New York Harbor, the Hudson River, and past the Statue of Liberty, while sipping drinks and savoring treats such as the classic Maine lobster roll, which can be purchased on board. Seafarers may also embark on special voyages, such as Lobster Day Sail picnics. With its spacious design, semi-private upper deck, and modern sound system, the New Horizons can handle events that range from large family gatherings to old-fashioned ocean-drinking contests.
