Today's side deal realizes your childhood fantasy of playing with your toy boat in the world's largest bathtub: for $125, you get a two-day Sailing 101 class from Seaforth Boat Rentals ($272 value). Your Basic Keelboat Sailing (ASA 101) course will supply you with the requisite literature–Gary Jobson's Sailing Fundamentals, along with a sailing instructor certified by the American Sailing Association, who will teach you proper seafaring practices and precise white whale harpooning technique.
Your two-day course will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on a Saturday and Sunday, and will put you at the helm of a Capri 22' during moderate wind and sea conditions out in San Diego Bay. Prior experience is not required, as you'll learn the basics in a fun and excitingly hydrating atmosphere. Class sizes of three to four students will ensure that you get plenty of individual attention until you're ready to captain the legendary three-hour tour that will one day be commemorated in sitcom theme song. Completing the course earns you a Seaforth Sailing School Certification.
The American Sailing Association requires a one-time mandatory fee of $39 for the ASA 101 class. This fee will include a one-year membership to ASA, a certification seal, ASA Magazines, and an ASA-certified sailor ID card. This cost is not included in today's Groupon.
