Celebrate the music of some of the world's greatest composers and their enduring masterworks, as well as the world premiere of a commission by award-winning composer Jeremy Turner, at the Seattle Chamber Music Society's 2016 Summer Festival. This acclaimed series, now in its 35th season, consists of a dozen different concerts at Benaroya Hall, each starring renowned musicians and each preceded by a free recital. Curated by artistic director and world-renowned violinist James Ehnes, these thrilling performances showcase the best of big names like Beethoven, Brahms, Mozart, Strauss and more, while spotlighting 20th-century greats like Leonard Bernstein, Paul Hindemith, Sergei Prokofiev and Benjamin Britten as well. Ehnes will also team with musician Chris Thile (Punch Brothers, Nickel Creek) for the exciting debut of Jeremy Turner's duo for mandolin and violin, The Inland Seas. Turner's not only a composer (who admits his first paid gig was for a Preparation H commercial), but he's also a singer, pianist, guitarist and cellist, who's performed with artists like Paul McCartney, David Byrne, LCD Soundsystem and Arcade Fire.
Please see the festival’s concert schedule for more performance details.
Each concert is preceded by a free recital at 7:00pm.
