All artists use their lungs to create masterpieces, from the saxophonist playing jazzy melodies to the sculptor screaming insults at blocks of marble until they crumble and reveal the statues hidden inside. Admire the product of aesthetic air circulation with today’s Groupon to Seattle Glassblowing Studio. Choose from the following two options:
- For $195, you get a four-hour glassblowing class for one or two (a $395 value), plus a $100 credit towards additional beginner glassblowing sessions
- For $49, you get $100 worth of blown-glass art. Jewelry is not included.
During Seattle Glassblowing Studio's one-on-one private lessons, a professional instructor will guide absolute beginners through the baby steps of creating blown-glass art—or help intermediate artisans polish their skills at an accelerated pace. New students will start by learning the basics of hot-shop safety and etiquette. From there, each apprentice will learn how to gather glass on rods, apply basic color, and breathe the molten mass into key shapes such as paper weights, ornaments, and busts of Burton Gilliam. Reservations are required.
If you're worried that you'll accidentally breathe life into your glass golem and cause it to run amok, you can instead watch the public studio's dream team of exhaling experts inflate amorphous materials into the form of decorative bowls and fluted vases. Once you're done marveling at their breathtaking breath taking, head to the gallery and load up on $100 worth of ornaments, including seasonal holiday decorations such as Valentine's hearts, Halloween pumpkins, and Arbor Day shovels.

- There are so many glass galleries in Seattle it is hard to stand out but this one does. It stands out in part because it has glass blowing shop in the back and if you are lucky you can catch people gaffing. We have purchased several pieces for us and for gifts. – carol b., Insider Pages
- It's really cool to watch a blob of glass turn into something amazing. – Jami K., Yelp

About Seattle Glassblowing Studio
The craft masters at Seattle Glassblowing Studio & Gallery guide pupils to artistic bliss by expounding on a spectrum of steps needed to create intricate pieces. Whether taking a "Blow Your Own Glass" class or forming a clique in a one- to a three-person private class, students turn provided materials into bowls, cups, and decorative piles of glass shards. Professional glass wielders safely impart etiquette and basic techniques such as gathering glass on a rod and shaping it into colorful geometric forms.
The shop's instructors also offer their own artistic services, including custom commissions such as functional lighting and installation pieces. Damaged glass heirlooms undergo repairs in the cold-working shop, where artisans restore shattered pieces and polish away dullness left behind by covetous pawing.
