The Gloaming, whose self-titled debut album won rave reviews and who sold out their debut show at Dublin’s National Concert Hall, are the latest indie artists to take the stage for Seattle’s acclaimed Live @ Benaroya Hall concert series. Known for taking traditional melodies and giving them a progressive new rendering, the contemporary Irish folk band came together in 2011 when four experienced musicians – Martin Hayes, Iarla Ó Lionáird, Caoimhín Ó Raghallaigh and Dennis Cahill – teamed with American pianist-singer-producer Doveman, aka Thomas Bartlett, who’s worked with acclaimed contemporary artists like Martha Wainwright, Glen Hansard and Sufjan Stevens. The result is an entirely new take on the Celtic sound.
