What You'll Get
As spring spreads like spilled gravy over the land, hibernating bicycles slowly awaken and emerge from the undergrowth, shy and stiff with sleep. Fuel up your pedalers and help your own bicycle bosom buddy rise and shine with today's Groupon: for $5, you get $10 worth of sandwiches, salads, soups, and other café fare at 2nd Street Bike Stop Café in St. Charles.
2nd Street Bike Stop Café is a combination café and sustainable bike shop, where cycling savants Tony and Jodi treat bipedalers to a menu abounding with organic, vegetarian, and vegan trailside tasties.
Located only one block from the Katy Trail in a century-old historic Frenchtown building, the cycleatery can treat famished mechanical mounties to nutritious fare such as the Morning Ride wrap ($3.65) or the Big Wheel bagel ($3.65), both stuffed with scrambled eggs and cheese.
Trade a curious appetite for the Lewis and Clark wrap, which explores a wheat wrap rife with feta, avocado, and pesto amid a variety of veggies ($6.15), or legally frolic in a meadow of fresh strawberries and blueberries in the North Woods salad ($5.55). Meanwhile, powerful potables such as the espresso ($1.70 medium, $1.95 large) and raspberry-chocolate Sweetheart latte ($3 medium, $3.75) revamp tired trail trekkers.
Outside the café, guests can feed their bicycles with a complimentary breath of air or surf free WiFi in the intimate café, which comes surrounded by rustic two-wheeled wall adornments, cozy circular tables, and oldies tunes played by bicycle horns. Feel free to peruse a fleet of used and new two-wheelers and accessories in the eatery's adjacent bike shop, or leave your road rover behind for a tune-up while you relax and plan this year's yard-mowing patterns in the outdoor garden (coming this spring). Cyclists can socialize with fellow athletes at one of 2nd Street's events.
