Tour Description

The Secret Food Tour: San Francisco – North Beach and Chinatown offers an immersive journey through two of the city's most iconic neighborhoods. Unlike most tours that focus on just one area, this experience delves deep into both, highlighting the rich history and culinary traditions of each.

Participants will explore the Gold Rush-era Barbary Coast, sample a unique pizza with a topping straight from the Pacific, and experience the best of West Coast coffee culture. The tour also includes a selection of authentic dim sum and a surprise secret bite. Along the way, guests will learn about San Francisco’s famous cable cars, visit historic sites tied to The Godfather, and stroll through the alleys where the original miner 49’ers once traded their gold.

Itinerary

  • Meeting Point: In front of the San Francisco Cable Car Museum, where guests will learn about the world’s only working manual cable car system.
  • Coffee Tasting: A flight of coffees featuring three local roasters to kick off the Italian portion of the tour.
  • Scenic Walk: A stop at the “big brother” to the Golden Gate Bridge, with a chance to find a moment of Zen along the way.
  • North Beach Pizza Stop: A visit to a long-standing establishment with over 45 years of history to enjoy an authentic slice of pizza.
  • Historic Landmarks: A look at the church where Marilyn Monroe and Joe DiMaggio were wed, followed by a stop for traditional Italian ice cream.
  • Chinatown Exploration: A walk through family-owned shops and markets filled with Asian spices, vegetables, and seafood.
  • Dim Sum Experience: A seated tasting in the heart of Chinatown, paired with the vibrant sights and aromas of the neighborhood.
  • Cultural Stop: A visit to one of the first and oldest operating Chinese temples in the United States.
  • Secret Bite: As with all Secret Food Tours, a final surprise tasting awaits.

This tour blends history, culture, and flavors into one unforgettable afternoon, providing a unique perspective on San Francisco’s diverse food scene.
