Seven Seas Sailing Center

Open since 1970, the U.S. Sailing Association–accredited Seven Seas Sailing Center offers landlubbers a taste of the aquatic life aboard sailboats manned by U.S. Coast Guard–certified captains. The team regularly exercises budding sailors' sea legs with certification courses and a seven-part Basic Sail program, and has also instructed students with multiple sclerosis and worked with the Sea Scouts to construct the world's first brick sailboat as part of a mission to take down rogue lighthouses. Seven Seas' headquarters on the Buffalo Ship Canal, complete with on-shore barbecues, a gazebo, and dockside gardens, hosts regular Friday-night family Sailabration events that combine food and fireworks with lively cruises and contests. When not sailing through their own programs, Seven Seas' captains and boats have been featured as crews in The Sullivans and Bruce Almighty.

Customer Reviews

We had a wonderful time.Much thanks to Captain Chris. It was a beautiful day to sail. And an experience we won't forget. Thankyou!

I bought this groupon as a gift for my boyfriend for his 28th birthday. Despite it being too windy that day to put the sail up (we went along with the motor instead), we had a great time. Captain Chuck was very welcoming and offered great insights into Buffalo history. The boat was very comfortable and we were able to go up to the front of the sailboat to sit for a bit. They allowed us to bring a bottle of wine and snacks. The views were amazing. Unlike what other reviews said, we didn't feel any pressure to leave a specific tip (Captain Chuck stated that these reviews came from customers who had tour guides who have since left). Overall, wonderful experience. I would go again to experience the full sail experience.
