Eat everything. It's awesome! And then find a tea shop after and relax. And THEN go back to the places that you visited and order more food. Ps bring a notebook and pen and write down the name of the street and restaurant because you will not remember where it was.

I absolutely loved this trip! Our tour guide was really friendly and she made sure we all ate. She was very knowledgeable of Chinatown and other near by areas. I would actually take this tour again!

What You'll Get

Spooky is the most neglected of the five basic human emotions: spooky, joy, sorrow, grouchy, and wet. Get horror glands pumping with today’s Groupon: for $12, you get a San Francisco Chinatown Ghost Tours (up to a $24 value), which passes through the darkened streets of Chinatown, the oldest Chinese community in the United States. Experience the spooky specters of Chinese-American folklore and legend while trekking through the chilly streets by lamplight for 90 bone-chilling minutes of supernatural stories and sights. Tours take place on Friday and Saturday nights and begin at 7:30 p.m.

Bring a warm scarf to combat goosebumps as the cool breath of local legend and folklore inches down your spine. The riveting guides are San Francisco natives who know every legendary nook and creepy cranny. They'll spin history and storytelling into a warm sweater that entertains, while simultaneously creeping you out and keeping you warm.

Longtime residents will learn surprising secrets, and out-of-town guests will delight in the architecture and street scenes. Learn local adaptations of ancient Chinese mythology, including the secrets of the magic moon cake. If folklore about magic cake makes you hungry, fret not because the tour includes a stop at a Chinese teashop for a tasting and an informative tour of a fortune-cookie factory. Learn about your crunchy prophecy, and find out why your warmth and kindness has not been as profitable as your last cookie promised.

Yelpers give Chinatown Ghost Tours a four-star average:

  • I've lived in SF for 4 years and passed through Chinatown numerous times, and I've never noticed such a cool maze of alleyways and historical spots. – Angela C.
  • Good tour and very good tour guide. I learned a fair amount about China town as well as get a little spooked. – Rubal B.

About SF Chinatown Ghost Tours

From an early age, native San Franciscans Cynthia Yee and Ruby Tsang found themselves fascinated with their native culture and its ties to ancient beliefs and the supernatural. Now, through SF Chinatown Ghost Tours, native guides immerse guests in the mysticism, folklore, and history of the U.S.’s oldest Chinese community during themed walking tours. Wandering down dimly lit streets, patrons see the sites of former gambling dens, riots, and antique shops specializing in Mogwai. A daytime cookie factory tour meanders past historic Chinatown sights including a Taoist temple, food markets, and a fortune cookie factory, letting guests munch on cookies where the renowned biscuit was invented.
