Today’s Groupon brings the culture of theater and the cackles of comedy with first-come, first-served tickets to The SF Playhouse’s She Stoops to Comedy. Soak in the professional, emotional armor-clad showmen and showwomen at San Francisco’s swiftest-growing and most awarded Theater Company.
David Greenspan’s She Stoops to Comedy, featuring Alexandra Page and Sally Clawson, is a whirlish romp that subverts all conventions of theater and romance with as many twists, turns, and clusterbombs of hilarity as the latest Shakespearean work. The fourth wall becomes wafer-thin as theater and real life collide with such commonly glazed over concepts as gender and sexuality. This is saucy theater that’s audacious and poor-mannered enough to both entertain and provoke.
Despite the impressive scope of Greenspan’s new comedy, She Stoops brings the intimate experience of a smaller theater to keep the focus onstage. Now you’ll be able to tell your friends you got your comedy from something other than the standard TV fare, loaded with adverts and Cheetos stains all over your shirt and pants.

SF Playhouse has won tremendous praise for its shows. The company itself won the SF Bay Guardian award for Best Off-Broadway Affair Off Union Square in 2006. Fifty-four Yelpers give the playhouse 4.5 stars: > * This is an amazing playhouse–the shows are always top notch and the theater is very intimate and comfortable. – Amanda D. > * Consistently producing some of the best theatre in the Bay Area. – G G. > * This playhouse always performs challenging content and the subjects always keeping me talking about them hours after I’ve left the theater – Roger H.
