On a whim in 1990, radio talk-show host Phil Hendrie decided to create -- and voice -- his own fictional call-in guest, an Iraqi who insisted Saddam Hussein was a great guy. That was the beginning of one of the most successful, if strangest, radio careers in history, in which Hendrie began having a conversation with himself as all kinds of different characters, cleverly getting his satirical message across without having to talk to actual real people. A successful actor, and obviously a gifted impressionist, whose show is broadcast on more than 100 stations, Hendrie offers a rare peek behind the curtain at his mind-blowing, whirlwind technique on the SF Sketchfest stage at the Eureka Theatre.
