A 2007 Olivier Award nominee for Best New Comedy, John Kolvenbach's offbeat love story explores the reclusive life of societal fringe dweller Beane. His sister Joan and brother-in-law Harry attempt to drill through his mineral-rich exterior without success until Beane's apartment gets burglarized. Following the robbery, Joan struggles to solve the metaphysical crossword puzzle of her brother's newfound happiness and mysterious romantic interest. Celebrating love in all forms, the play jubilantly explores the emotional process of self-discovery, reinvention, and picking one's own bildungsroman title. Love Song's cast imbues the Varscona Theatre stage with Shadow Theatre’s Artistic Associates and well-known proscenium paramours Coralie Cairns and John Sproule.
