What You'll Get
Cooking, like taking a pop quiz and defusing a bomb on national television, is often a source of stress. Disarm your hunger with today’s Groupon: for $10, you get $20 worth of Indian fare at Shalimar Tandoor Grill and Bar.
Shalimar's chefs toss fistfuls of warming spices into steaming dishes to forge a menu that flaunts the culinary traditions of the Indian subcontinent. Gullets genuflect before the altar of the tandoor, a clay oven that conjures naan ($2–$4) and tandoori prawns ($20 for 6). Chicken, lamb, and goat arrive in a cornucopia of curried dishes such as vindaloo, korma, and rogan josh ($12–$17), and a choice of spice levels lets patrons bring color to their cheeks without being slapped by a finger painter. Water your mouth gardens with made-from-scratch desserts such as kheer—a rice pudding that prances beneath garlands of pistachio, clove, and cardamom ($4.99)—and sweet, mango, or salted-mint lassi, a yogurt beverage concocted on-site ($3).

About Shalimar Tandoor Grill and Bar
Realizing the region's dearth of Indian eateries, the owners of Shalimar Tandoor Grill and Bar opened their doors to give their friends and neighbors a first or umpteenth taste of the subcontinent's cuisine. The decadent dining room of deep red booths and walls hosts a panoply of vibrant spices and rich aromas that emanate from curries, kebabs, and tandoor-grilled dishes custom-spiced to four levels of heat. To cool down tongues and thwart the growth of uvula cactus patches, the owners added a full bar stocked with domestic and Indian beers and an impressive list of classic and house cocktails infused with an Indian twist.
