Mint-green booths, stone-tiled floors, and large plate-glass windows lend a cozy and inviting spirit to Shan-A-Punjab, where a shining statue of Ganesha watches over the dining room. Once they wander inside, guests are indulged with a pan-regional menu of Indian cuisine. For traditionalists, the chefs serve up the classics, making their own paneer in house, baking fresh disks of pillowy naan, and serving yogurt-marinated chicken straight from a geothermally heated tandoor oven.
However, Shan-A-Punjab also strives to offer new interpretations of those familiar South Asian flavors by dedicating a section of the menu to more modern entrees. Included are dishes such as boneless duck in a fiery vindaloo sauce, as well as mashed tofu with onion, green peas, and a fragrant melange of Indian spices.
