Animals' mysterious nature and reluctance to do interviews have spurred several myths about their abilities, including that groundhogs can predict the arrival of spring and that emus can predict Super Bowl winners. See some animals and get some fantasy-football tips with today's Groupon to Sharkarosa Wildlife Ranch in Pilot Point. Choose between two options:
- For $10, you get two admissions for any age (up to a $20 value).
- For $18, you get two adult and two child admissions (a $36 value).
Children 2 and younger are admitted free.
Featured on Dirty Jobs for its hands-on animal caretaking, the 126-acre Sharkarosa Wildlife Ranch invites visitors to meet more than 100 types of animals face-to-face on safari-tram tours and during the barn's interactive programs. Guests can jump onto the safari tram for a 40-minute expedition through the ranch, getting close enough to horses, camels, and zebras to exchange pleasantries about their favorite racquetball teams. A small-animal barn and the indoor-outdoor Lemur Landing shelter tinier critters, such as the endangered red ruffed lemur and majestic blue bobcats. Animal presentations pair guests with playful animals, such as kangaroos and ring-tailed lemurs, and meet-and-greet sessions allow kids to mingle with camels and housecats wearing monkey masks.
Sharkarosa Wildlife Ranch
More than 100 exotic and endangered animals can be seen at Sharkarosa Wildlife Ranch, an educational, nonprofit wildlife ranch licensed by the USDA and featured on the Discovery Channel's Dirty Jobs. Knowledgeable staffers pilot a fleet of safari trams that ferry guests across the park's sprawling pastures in the rear of the park, dispensing enlightening wisdom as they pass zebras, camels, emus, draft horses, and more. The staff brings patrons face-to-face with many of the exotic critters and often stops to allow guests to pet and get to know the animals. Interactive presentations and small-animal habitats further educate visitors on the menagerie of rare creatures located in the front of the park including kangaroos, lemurs, capuchin monkeys, bears, and more.
