Today’s Groupon offers an opportunity to experience high-flying athleticism and the occasional anti-Loyalist tirade with a rooftop-perched bird’s eye view. A ticket gets attendees an all-you-can-eat-and-drink pass to the rooftops of the Sheffield Baseball Club or the Wrigley Field Rooftop Club for a Cubs game. Unlike some previous Groupon deals on rooftop tickets, there’s no limit per person so you can buy as many as you want (tickets not for resale). Before visions of scalping start fluttering in your head, tickets cannot be resold, and a valid ID is required for entry.
From a rooftop vantage point, Cubbie blue-bleeding fans can have unobstructed views of the ever-changing strike zone, as well as comfy extra-wide stadium seats. Opening half an hour before game time, more than 3,000 square feet of rooftop space welcomes fans to enjoy tasty ballgame food, draft beer, desserts, and a constant chorus of hungry foul-ball-snagging seagulls circling overhead. Additionally, the rooftop bar offers speedy service, while several outdoor televisions ensure spectators see every grimace and skillfully spat sunflower-seed shell.
Usually, when someone goes up on the roof, a concerned citizen intervenes and forces them to return the sack of silverware and candlesticks. But this is one occasion when friends can have a great time up in what Dick Van Dyke called “The Chimney Sweep World” without getting chewed out by the landlord or local law enforcement.
USA Today lists the Wrigley rooftops as having the best seats in the house: > * The actual seats, 10 rows of them, are very comfortable — extra wide stadium seats with cup holder and plenty of legroom. There are heating units on the landing at the top of the seating area for chilly nights…In short, you get much of the Wrigley experience without the Wrigley hassle. – Mike Dodd
Nine Yelpers give Wrigley Rooftops four stars: > * All you can drink. All you can eat. And an amazing view of the game. What more do you need? – Gwendolyn H. > * We were there on a groupon deal, so we got a great deal. And though most people were there from a groupon, the staff and service people were still so helpful, friendly, with great customer service. – Melinda M.
