What You'll Get
Like blindfolded motorcyclists, new golfers quickly discover how difficult it is to stay on the right path and avoid driving into lakes. Navigate your way to athletic satisfaction with today's Groupon: for $40, you get 18 holes of golf for two players with a cart at Shelbyville Country Club in Shelbyville (up to an $80 value). If used on a weekday, today's deal also gets iron swingers a free bucket of range balls (a $4 value).
Originally designed by Buck Blankenship in 1934, Shelbyville Country Club's 6,400-yard golf course offers beautifully manicured golfing terrain fit for both beginner and experienced birdie-hunters. Its signature water feature is the horseshoe-shaped lake, a remnant of the original design that's said to bring good luck to golfing horses. Though not long, the course places an emphasis on the values of accuracy and course management, leading duffers through groves of mature trees and past fountain ponds that beckon to golf balls with promises of free dimple washings. Shelbyville Country Club's membership base is limited, helping to cut down on crowds, and famished tee-boxers can hit the clubhouse (not covered by this Groupon) to fuel up for lengthy post-round soliloquies about pitching wedges.

About Shelbyville Country Club
Designed by architect Buck Blankenship, the fairways of Shelbyville Country Club's 18-hole course circumnavigate a horseshoe-shaped lake and they gently rise and fall over the rolling hills of Shelby County. Pros and amateurs alike flock to this course to enjoy the fast and true putting greens, and a fully-stocked pro shop lies at the course's trailhead, offering players the latest in clubs and gear. Plus, a staff of two resident aces stands ready to adjust swings and impart strategic advice during private and group lessons. Along with the numerous natural grass areas, Shelbyville Country Club boasts two outdoor tennis courts and an Olympic-size pool patrolled by a lifeguard and Mark Spitz's mustache.
