What You'll Get
Acclaimed for his recent Chopin recordings, Nelson Freire returns to Shriver Hall Concert Series to close its 50th Anniversary Season with a program including Chopin's Sonata in B minor, along with Beethoven's Piano Sonata No. 31 in A-flat major and works by Bach, Shostakovich and Rachmaninoff. Freire was a child prodigy who already had a street named after him in his hometown by the time he was 10. He's since performed with most of the world's major orchestras, released numerous recordings on the Decca label and received a Grammy nomination. He was also chosen for inclusion in Philips' box set Great Pianists of the 20th Century.
There will be a pre-concert lecture by Dr. Carl Schmidt at 4:30pm in the Clipper Room upstairs from the Shriver hall lobby.
Program is current at time of publication, but subject to change.
