During the guided food tour, groups of up to 12 explore Downtown Los Angeles’s food scene. Guides tell stories of LA’s history, the city’s golden age, and the film industry in between stopping at seven places to eat. These include the Grand Central Market and a family-owned joint that the tour says has “some of the best tacos in LA.”

Tours take place Thursday–Monday at 11 a.m. and include enough tastings for a full lunch. Kids ages 1–3 are free.

Sidewalk Food Tours of Los Angeles

The folks behind Sidewalk Food Tours of Los Angeles visited countless restaurants, food stalls, and bakeries before devising their itinerary, which features the dishes that made their taste buds sing loud enough to earn a record deal. Their tours now include stops at seven places ranging from Horse Thief Barbecue in Grand Central Market to taco-joint Guisados to a diner that serves as a bright spot on the otherwise dreary Skid Row.

While traveling to the various eateries, guides tell tales of Los Angeles's history and film industry. They also pause at such locales as the Bradbury Building and Biltmore Hotel. Their goal is to show visitors another side of LA beyond Hollywood and Beverly Hills, where streets are said to glitter from all the sequins that have fallen off award-show gowns.

Very nice experience. Some people might not get stuffed on all the food but I certainly got full and all the walking in between helped you feel less like a lardo at the end. Good for out-of-town visitors and for locals to get a ground-level look at places you might just drive by.

This was well worth the purchase. We learned a lot about the history of Downtown LA, visited some historical sites but best of all the restaurants we visited were top notch! I would do the same tour all over again. Finally, we had the nicest, most knowledgeable and easy on the eye tour guide.
