During cleanings, hygienists examine all areas of the mouth as well as the head and neck before scraping plaque and stains away. A fluoride treatment further fortifies enamel against sensitivity and decay.

During a Pola whitening treatment, the hygienist coats each tooth in a hydrogen peroxide gel that activates under a special dental light for about 10 minutes, repeating the process two to three times.
