Sculpting a toned body used to involve chisels, hammers, and encasing one’s self in a block of marble. Discover your true form without depriving yourself of oxygen with today’s Groupon: for $18, you get one week (three sessions) of small-group fitness training at Simsfit (a $36 value).
Simsfit transforms exercise-craving bods into fitness-friendly physiques in an intimate setting, using resistance techniques, kettlebells, and freestyle suspension training to burn potentially more than 500 calories in a single session. Small classes allow NASM-certified personal trainer Karen Sims to personalize exercise and nutritional programs based on individual goals, abilities, and which Dolph Lundgren character they’d most like to resemble. Before beginning training, Karen assesses her clients’ overall body composition to better focus efforts on reducing physique-concealing fat and to address any corporeal limitations or superhuman powers. Over the course of the 45-minute session, participants jump, twist, pull, push, and slam dance their way toward increased strength and improved muscle tone.
Subdued gray tones high-five an orange-bricked accent wall in the circuit-training studio, with dangling resistance bands holding dominion over a health-hyping coterie of equipment, such as a Bosu balance ball, treadmill, elliptical trainer, and free weights. Each session is limited to a maximum of five gym rats or less, or four gym raccoons.
