North American fur traders fell out of prominence when pioneers discovered they could make their own coonskin caps out of birch bark and fuzz harvested from Muppets. Resurrect the exchange of fashionable threads with today’s deal: for $15, you get one admission ticket to Sip & Switch, a clothing swap and wine-tasting event held at The Vineyards in Simi Valley on Thursday, July 29th, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. (a $30 value). Each admission ticket includes two complimentary wine or champagne drink tickets. Attendees must be 21 or older.
Sip & Switch participants can transform slightly used or new clothing into clothing vouchers at the door, then enjoy wine and entertainment while redeeming vouchers for new-to-you wardrobe pieces. Arrive at 7 p.m. with your closet castoffs, each cleanly pressed and on a hanger. The Sip & Switch fashion stylists will hand-pick the items suited for swapping. For each accepted piece, you will receive a voucher good for one item that got lost in the crowd of its last closet.
Once inside The Vineyard's waterfall terrace, shop the outdoor boutique for fresh fashions, or have a glass of wine on the plush white couches. Seek insights on future style trends with a psychic reading from mentalist Robert EC Valdemar. Before the door-prize raffle, Alex Nester from American Idol will fill the terrace with her vocal stylings. Shoulders and backs fatigued from lugging around large bindles filled with new garments can find respite with free massages from the Healing Oak School of Massage. At the end of the night, glass slippers will disappear completely and additional clothing can be donated to Sip & Switch's charity partner, the Samaritan Center of Simi Valley.
