What You'll Get
Like birthing your first child, knitting your first sweater can be difficult but ultimately rewarding, as you get to wear your new accoutrement on your chest until it’s too old. Fashion a precious bundle of sweater with today’s Groupon: for $38, you get three classes of your choice at Sit 'n Knit (a $120 value) in Bloomfield. Sit 'n Knit’s expert staff of stitch masters guides first-time purlers and long-time loopers through an array of knitting and crocheting courses using an in-house selection of fine fibers from around the world. The Learn to Knit introductory class provides basic instruction in casting on, binding off, and adding fringe, while the Learn to Crochet class teaches beginners the way of the one-needle wonder, yielding afghans, hats, scarves, and more. Knitters can take home fuzzy sculptures of their own crafting such as socks, neck warmers, and fingerless gloves, or tie up loose ends in a finishing class. Sit 'n Knit also offers sessions for kids and teens. Students can relax in Sit ‘n Knit’s bright, airy workspace as they perform the mesmeric motions of yarning and darning.
Although reviews are still growing for Sit 'n Knit's Bloomfield location, WFSB3 featured the West Hartford location.
- There are walls and walls of yarns; thousands of colors and materials – it all looks overwhelming, but if you show up with no experience, don't worry, they'll teach you how. – WFSB3

The experts at Yarnover help knitters of all skill levels learn basic and advanced techniques in knitting classes, as well as help those comfortable enough to knit by themselves navigate the shop and secure buttons, needle cases, and colorful royal alpaca, mulberry silk, or baby llama yarn. During the hands-on classes, students progress at their own pace as they take in wisdom and pointers from experienced teachers and broaden the knowledge of their hands and muscle memory. Guests can also stop by to sharpen their skills and talk trash about crocheters at a free knitting circle held every Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m.
