Lady Day at Emerson's Bar & Grill at Sketch Club Players

Philadelphia

The Fine Print

Stage siren Toni Richards channels blues icon Billie Holiday in Lanie Robertson’s Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar & Grill. For this musical play, the stage at Woodbury’s Sketch Club Players will be transformed into the run-down Emerson’s Bar and Grill in South Philadelphia. You’ll be whisked back to March 1959, and witness Ms. Holiday giving one of her last performances before her death later that same year. As Richards sings the songs that made Lady Day a legend – including “God Bless the Child,” “Somebody’s on My Mind,” and “T’ain’t Nobody’s Business If I Do” – she’ll share the highs and lows of her colorful life.
