Q:

What is length of time between injections of Radiesse? I had some placed around outer edges of cheekbones/eye area in late August and 28 days later , the the skin was wrinkled, creased and saggy. I was told that I metabolize product very fast. Had more injections Sept. 21. and so far so good ,but some light creasing . I am small , slender, very thin skin. Is there a rule of thumb on time between injections?

A:

Good question. Radiesse is a collagen stimulating product. It takes 3 months for our body to make it. So the more seasoned we are the more Radiesse we need. Wrinkled, creased and saggy skin cannot be treated with filler. It will help, but it sounds like laser may be needed as well. Without actually looking at you it is difficult to make that assessment. There is no rule of thumb but I always recommend waiting 3 months to re-inject, however the key is filling to correction on day one. It avoids under correction to begin with.

Q:

Do I have to purchase the Radiesse pkg. along with either 20 or 40 units of Botox or can I just purchase the Botox pkg. alone? If I decided to get my lip lines done with Juvaderm, what is the average cost per consumer? Possible side effects of the lip procedure? In addition, are there any meds you cannot be taking orally for either procedure?

Dianna M.  asked on  Nov 4, 2012

A:

No, you do not have to purchase Radiesse. It is listed as a choice. Juvederm is the filler of choice in the lips. WE use Juvederm Ultra Plus XC or Juvederm Ultra XC depending on the severity of the lip wrinkles and lip volume. Blood thinners will make you bruise so they are not recommended. If they are medically necessary than you will have to ask you doctor if you can be off of them for at least a week otherwise you WILL bruise. There are several things one can do to limit bruising, but a consultation is recommended to go over side effects. We have a special for Juvederm right now. If interested please call office for details.

Q:

I have had multiple back surgeries and still have problems which translates to mean I am still on a lot of pain medication. I noticed in the extended info (@ allergan.com) it said that I would need to disclose any muscle relaxers, allergy pills and anti-platelets (aspirin-like products) and/or anti-coagulants (blood thinners) that I take. (I am not sure if Motrin 800mg is part of the last group.) Having said all of that would I still be a candidate for botox or Xeomin between my eyebrows? It is only 1 line but it is pretty bad so I am not sure if botox of Xeomin is best or if it matters this early in the process.

Kay W.  asked on  Nov 3, 2012

A:

It just increases your chances of bruising. So that is why we need to know. Motrin is a blood thinner. You can still do that, but know it can leave you bruised when you are on that much pain meds and blood thinners.

Q:

Do I have to use both syringes of Radiasse on the same visit ?

Maria B.  asked on  Nov 3, 2012

A:

No you don't. However you must use them by expiration date. Most people do need both the first time. 3cc is not that much filler. A teaspoon is only 5cc.

Q:

It can be used most everywhere, midface, Naso-labial folds, marrionette lines, Oral commisures, and temples. It is not to be used in the lips.

Q:

Will one syringe of Radiesse be enough to fill in lines around lips or would it take both? Which is better for lips... Radiesse or Juvederm?

Donna B.  asked on  Nov 3, 2012

A:

Radiesse is not the filler of choice for lines around the mouth. We used Juvederm in that area. 2 syringes will do many areas, Naso labial folds, marrionette lines, Jowl area, cheeks...

Q:

Is Radiesse purchased through the manufacturer directly or from another distributor?

Hetty W.  asked on  Nov 3, 2012

A:

Yes. We buy directly from Merz Aesthetics. We are a Black Card Elite account which means we do more Radiesse than anyone in San Antonio and surrounding areas.

Q:

My Mother used to work for a derm long ago to I have put off trying injections after having heard scary stories. Since the cost is so low, I have to ask is this being purchased through the manufacturer directly or from another distributor? This deal feels good for Botox (ten years ago) pricing. Would love to finally try - Arianna

Ari B.  asked on  Nov 2, 2012

A:

We only use Allergan made Botox and the company knows we are running this Groupon. Hope this helps.
