The staff at Skin Essentials Laser and Medical Spa target unwanted fuzz with lasers that are FDA-approved to leave skin permanently smooth. After clients book first appointments, emails materialize in inboxes with required paperwork, directions to the med spa, appointment confirmation, and instructions for knitting doffed hair into an afghan. Before meeting with the medical director for a pretreatment consultation, patients should shave the area to be targeted. Skilled technicians zap small areas in minutes, or take upwards of a half hour on extra-large areas. Clients traipse back to the med spa every four to eight weeks to help disable follicles completely. Technicians do not recommend the treatment for blond or white hair, vellus “peach fuzz” hair, or actual peaches.

About Skin Essentials Laser and Medical Spa
Owner and aesthetician Katrina Barringer opened Skin Essentials Laser and Medical Spa in 1999, and has since recruited an elite team of eight that includes a physician and a licensed acupuncturist. Each of the women on staff boasts a specialty such as bamboo-fusion massage, eyelash extensions, or aromatherapy that smells like colors. Barringer's interests are of an academic complexion, as she penned an award-winning paper and is one of 67 laser technicians without an M.D. degree to be accepted into the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery.
