First Jump course affords skydivers the opportunity to jump solo from 3,000 feet
- Solo First Jump Course Package - Including Jump
The course starts with a four- to five-hour ground school, which starts at 8:45 a.m. on a weekend morning and including a lunch break. Led by Canadian Sport Parachute Association-rated instructors, the course—using an approved syllabus from the CSPA—discusses how the parachute works, how to fly it with the aid of radio instruction from the ground, how to land it, and how to deal with any emergency situations that may arise. After passing a written exam, skydivers are then ready to jump in the afternoon, where one experienced instructor will be in the airplane to ensure parachutes are deployed while another will be on the ground guiding jumpers with a one-way radio.
While most customers are comfortable jumping solo after taking the course, those not comfortable will be allowed to apply the full amount paid toward the price of a tandem jump instead, which is priced at $279. Tandem jumps are usually scheduled in advance, and may not be accommodated for the same day.
