Since it first opened in 1998, Smoke in the Pit has made a name for itself as a purveyor of tasty barbecue. But if it's up to owners Dwight and Ivy Alexander, the name will be synonymous with a whole lot more. Not only do they want to continue serving up succulent smoked ribs, tender wings, and delicious catfish alongside classic southern side dishes, they also want to give back to the community more than just full bellies and brisket-themed dream sequences. Their vision for the future includes catering church and nonprofit events and donating a portion of their profits to organizations fighting chronic illnesses.
