Soccer, or football, puts its emphasis on the human foot, largely to keep it safe now that delinquent hands are using real rocks, paper, and scissors in their games. Keep feet from falling in with a bad crowd with today’s Groupon at SoccerZone’s Portage location. Choose from the following options:
- For $10, you get six weekly youth soccer classes (up to a $48 value).
- For $10, you get six weekly adult Learn and Burn classes (a $48 value).
- For $10, you get six weekly adult Coed Sports Club classes (a $48 value).<p>
The youth class option is valid for any of the six-week instructional programs held during Session 2, which runs from November 5 to December 17. Players must attend the same day and time throughout the session.
Youth classes are divided by age, with five groups of classes run young midfielders around SoccerZone’s indoor field during sessions scheduled throughout the week. Recent graduates from walking academy can achieve a PhD in ambulation during 30-minute Mommy and Me (age 3) and Koala Kids (age 4) programs (a $30 value each), where blossoming dribblers can socialize and soak up basic skills. For older kids, 45- to 50-minute classes (a $48 value each) usher developing footballers through the ranks of Kangaroo Kickers (ages 5–6), Jr. Stars (ages 7–8), and Super Shooters (ages 9–12). Fostering the kind of camaraderie best expressed through matching tie-dyed knee socks, classes for the younger sets focus on the basics of ball handling, such as dribbling, shooting, and passing, and older all-stars split time between honing their skills and scrimmaging.
Adults can opt for Learn and Burn classes, a weekly beginners soccer six-week course beginning Tuesday, November 8 that focuses on developing skills and a better understanding of the game. Alternatively, the Coed Sports Club offers sports such as dodgeball and flag football, as well as indoor soccer, in a more relaxed environment. Coed Sports Club classes also last six weeks and begin on Monday, November 7.
