What You'll Get

Poetry would be comprised entirely of haikus and sonnets dedicated to cakes and pastries if poets didn't devour their idyllic subjects before having a chance to write. Today's Groupon says what meter and rhythm cannot: for $10, you get $20 worth of baked goods, sandwiches, and more at Social Bakehouse Cafe in Arlington.

Social Bakehouse Cafe produces a bevy of bakery treats and fresh-made eats to satisfy every sweet tooth and savory stomach. Gourmet cupcakes ($2.75) in tantalizing flavors like caramel turtle, totally white chocolate, and banana cream eagerly await their inevitable unwrapping, while baked-from-scratch snickerdoodles and other cookies (many priced from $1 to $1.25) wrestle double fudge and chocolate marshmallow brownies ($1.50–$2.50). Petit fours ($3 each) are available in a dizzying array of choices: two flavors, two fillings, and two glazes. Social Bakehouse also constructs artistic cakes in several sizes (including a 6” two-layer round cake for $15, and an 8” two-layer round cake for $28.50), as well as pies ($13.50–$17.50), nature’s only perfect weapon.

Though the dessert comes first in any well-crafted meal, Social Bakehouse Cafe won’t leave patrons polished off without a hearty serving of fresh deli creations. The turkey brie signature sandwich ($7.89) comes with melted brie cheese, sliced apple, and cranberry-orange relish on a warm croissant. Take a trip to Eastern Sandwich with the Mandarin chicken wrap served on a honey wheat tortilla ($7.59), which includes mandarin oranges, a selection of veggies, toasted almonds, and sesame ginger dressing. Serving breakfast, too, along with many thirst-quenching delights, the Social House Cafe will satisfy your every comestible craving, leaving you with only your unfulfilled childhood desire for a rocket ship.

About Social Bakehouse Cafe

There’s a big difference between the muffins you pluck from the grocery shelf and those you choose from the counter at Social Bakehouse Cafe. That’s because the in-house bakers wake up early every morning in order to have fluffy cupcakes, flaky scones, and gooey cinnamon rolls freshly made just as customers begin flocking to the shop’s counters.

The pastry chefs liberally wield frosting guns over sweets, applying sugary flowers to the borders of custom cakes and creating seasonal designs on cookies and pumpkins trying to expand their resumés. Once the bakery rush subsides, chefs turn their attention to lunch dishes, such as mandarin chicken wraps and spinach salads drizzled with house-made dressing.
